Production Concept Unit: Project Update

To update on the project I've put it into a presentation style to break down my thought-processes and what I've been doing.I've been concentrating on branding these past few weeks. So far i've some up with some title design ideas. Once finalised I can start integrating our brand onto AMC's website as a mock-up on how it would fit in with their style of programming.

I created the banner below with the blue water as part of brainstorming ideas. You find in many TV shows that certain elements are used to represent moods or themes. In this case the water is relevant as the prison we're basing the programme on is surrounded by water, so it could connote isolation, drowning and being dragged under without any control.

Along the way, Lauren and I are thinking about how to put all our research and developments into a package and have agreed on certain looks and style of presentation.

I'll be shooting my title sequence and screen tests over Easter, here's a little taster of a type of mood storyboard...

Production Concept Unit: Title Sequence

So I had just spent an entire days working on a breakthrough with my title sequence.

Just as I go to export and show off all my work, boom, exit.

Be warned, Final Cut X has an autosave bug. As it's a new piece of software you have to wait for all these things to be fixed, so it's one of many and sometimes it doesn't save your work, and you can't even decide when it saves as you assume it's doing it for you. The way to tell if it's doing this apparently is to make sure you can undo the last action, otherwise when you next open you're project you'll find you'll be starting from scratch

It can be a really good piece of software but it can be a real pain.  :S

Here's what I've managed to salvage, it's only a test and it's a little rough because I rushed it in about an hour or so. Plus, the main title itself isn't refined yet and I need to add the right shade of blue I'm using. I'm keeping the main themes in mind and combining them to create a shot list and some ideas. They are: prison, corruption, technology, voyeurism, media control and globalisation.
